Swimming Pool Shock

 

By ‘shocking’ your swimming pool, you increase the amount of chlorine in the pool. The purpose of this is to raise the chlorine level which removes bacteria or any organic matter from the pool. This process should occur weekly, in peak use it should be shocked more regularly. Using tablets that releases chlorine slowly does not provide your pool with sufficient amounts of chlorine to shock the water. Unlike chlorine based shock, where you cannot go into the pool until the chlorine levels have returned to a safe level, with non-chlorine based shock there is only a short wait before you can return to the pool.
